Booking a cleaning service is easy. Knowing what actually happens once someone’s in your home is less obvious. Here’s a realistic walkthrough of a typical deep clean visit, start to finish.
Before we even knock
Every visit starts with a quick review of any notes from the booking — pets in the home, areas to skip, specific requests, or anything flagged from a previous visit. This is why leaving a note beforehand (a stain to watch for, a room to prioritize) actually gets used, not just filed away.
The walkthrough
The first few minutes are spent doing a quick walkthrough of the space, not cleaning. This is when we confirm priorities with you if you’re home, check for anything unexpected, and map out the order of rooms — usually we start from the top level to the basement.
Top to bottom, back to front
Within each room, cleaning happens top to bottom, left to right — light fixtures and ceiling fans before counters, counters before floors — so that dust and debris falls onto surfaces that haven’t been cleaned yet, not ones that already have. Floors are always last.
The parts that take the longest
Grout, inside appliances, blinds, and baseboards are consistently the most time-intensive parts of a deep clean, even though they’re rarely the first thing anyone notices. These are also the areas most likely not included in a regular recurring clean, which is exactly why they’re prioritized here.
A final pass
Before wrapping up, we do a second walkthrough of the whole home — checking for streaks, missed spots, and making sure everything’s been put back where it was. This catches the small things that are easy to miss when you’re focused on one room at a time.
